Assess - direct

Now is the time to stop and assess where you are. You now know what is being counted. What are priorities? What is missing? Are there areas where there should be more measuring. In particular, are there possible plans for dealing with the main issues (in left hand nav) which have been ignored and you consider should now be included?

Your organisation's carbon footprint is the amount of carbon emitted mainly through the use of fossil fuels as part of your everyday activities. From your counting you should now be able to ascertain which areas and functions of your organisation are the highest green house gas emitters. These areas are of greatest concern.

Task 1 Identify and list those areas or functions within your boundaries that give the highest carbon count.
Many organisations should have calculated their energy use under the terms of the
Climate Change Levy (software) and can use this to see where to concentrate.

Task 2 Relate your high direct carbon count areas or functions to the carbon issues.

The issues listed in the left hand navigation click through to further information, plans and web links.
Decide which of these issues is most relevant to your organisation's areas of greatest concern and fill in the text boxes in the table below. There are no right or wrong answers, all the issues overlap. The way you prioritise the issues associated with each of your high carbon count functions is subjective and relative to your perception of the risks arising from each.
