Emissions of CO2 in World - by wealth
Emissions from fossil fuels and cement manufacturing today (the most recent comprehensive data are for 2003) are originated in equal shares from the industrialized and the developing worlds. In 1960, low and middle income countries only accounted for one third of world emissions.

The Little Green Data Book May 2007 says emissions have been growing faster in the poorer countries, especially in East and South Asia. But the upward trend is also a feature of high income countries. The United States and Japan show very high increases in CO2 emissions: 20 and 15 percent respectively between 1990 and 2003. The European Monetary Union countries grew 3 percent.
